How to Save a Life

Oregon Ducks football player Mark Asper is somewhat of a hero. After being out at a dinner, he noticed that a gentleman close to his table was choking. The chef had already come out to give the Heimlich Maneuver but didn’t have enough force to dislodge the trapped food. So, standing at 6-foot-7 and 325 pounds, Asper decided to lend a helping hand.

When asked how he knew what to do in that situation, Asper credited it to being an Eagle Scout. Imagine that! Being part of the Eagle Scouts helped save someone’s life!

As Adventists, we don’t have the Eagle Scouts, but we do have Pathfinders and Adventurers. In each of these groups you learn valuable life lessons and skills, and to top it off, you get these really neat badges to prove it!

I never got the chance to be a part of Pathfinders or Adventurers, but I have to believe that whatever you guys and girls are learning WILL be useful someday. And who knows, you could save someone’s life 🙂 Have a happy New Year everyone!
