Hebrews 11:6 – Shaquem Griffin

How fast is fast when it comes to NFL linebackers?

Former Central Florida linebacker Shaquem Griffin ran a time of 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash last Sunday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, the fastest time for a linebacker in more than a decade!

That’s not all Shaquem had going for that weekend. He also did 20 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press, using a prosthetic on his left arm that was attached to the bar. You might ask why Shaquem used a prosthetic on his left arm. That’s because when he was 4 years old his left hand was amputated.

How did Shaquem lose his hand? According to sportsillustrated.com “Shaquem was thus born with amniotic band syndrome, a congenital disorder that constricts the appendages, including fingers and toes.” Ever since that moment Shaquem has been proving doubters wrong. He got a scholarship to play college football, got invited to the NFL combine, and was able to put himself on the map.

The world tells us that opposites attracts. However, when it comes to doubt, it cannot co-exist with its opposite faith. Doubt cannot inhabit where faith exists. According to Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please Him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

God calls us to live a life of faith and trust-never doubt! Disbelief and doubt come from fear, and fear paralyzes, restricts, and prevents us from doing what we need to do. God does not want us to live with any fear whatsoever.
