“Wow,” you might be thinking. That is a bit harsh. Yeah, but for a good reason. This is a verse of warning. It is like a wake-up call. In this verse, it means that God is going to “sweep everything from the face of the Earth.” What does that mean? It means that God is going to take the believers up into heaven and then destroy Earth and everything in it. The wicked people, the beasts of the Earth, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and the idols. Wait, what idols? God is talking about the idols that the wicked people worship. The idols that the people thought were God, but they were wrong. So the “idols that cause the wicked to stumble” means the idols that the people “thought” were God were wrong, and they “stumbled.” Not physically stumbling, but stumbling as in being confused. Wow.
