The Little House On The Hill

My first day at school was okay. I had met a girl named Luna and we had become great friends. When I told her about the cottage, her eyes got wide and she spent the rest of the day trying to talk me out of it.

“It will be dangerous!” she said. “What if people are still living in it?”

I cringed at that. “Ok, that would be weird, but don’t you know how unlikely that would be?”

Anyway, Luna said that if I was going, she was going too. So, we decided that we would take the three minute walk to the cottage.

That’s where we were going now. Luna and I packed delicious sandwiches in a little bag, and then we were on our way.

I had start walking up the stone path when Luna grabbed on to my arm, trembling in fear.

“Come on,” I say. “It’s not THAT scary.” But I’m trying to convince myself that.

Just as I’m about to touch the doorknob, four gunshots rang out.

“GET DOWN!” I say, dragging Luna to the ground.

“Get out of here!” I hear a man’s voice yell.

What was going on?!
