Sunday

I woke up ready and excited for Pathfinders. I’m not really close with all the kids there, but we get along well and I don’t mind that. At Pathfinders, we started working on the fire honor and went out to gather sticks for fuel. While I was walking around trying to find sticks, I overheard two girls in my class whispering very loudly. “Look at the little boy,” Victoria mocked. “He barely has any sticks!”

Camille, Victoria’s friend, responded, “He’s just a baby, it’s fine.” I looked up from the bottom of the hill and saw Oliver, one of the boys in our Explorer class, turning red from embarrassment. I wanted to say something, but I was too shy to say anything and just kept gathering sticks. When we had enough kindling, we walked over to our teacher, Mr. Manuel. The rest of the Pathfinders were standing in a circle around the fire. Oliver was beside Logan, who was beside Tessa, who was beside Danielle, my older sister. Someone had thrown a worm at Tessa, and she started screaming. Logan picked up the worm and handed it to Oliver. When the worm was passed to Danielle, I asked for it and she gave it to me. Victoria and Camille started telling me it was disgusting, put it down, stuff like that. After Pathfinders, we were right outside the basement door of the fellowship hall in church, practicing our marching (wait I just remembered that in class something happened that made my older foster brother Ethan kiss his teeth. I looked up in surprise and he grinned foolishly at me). Anyway we were practicing marching outside when Oliver stuck his head out the door and said “Girl Scouts?” He hadn’t seen Isaiah in the middle of the group. Oliver blushed a little and said “Girl scouts with a boy?” We all smiled and Tessa asked if Oliver wanted to join us. He shook his head but continued watching through the window. After practicing marching, Danielle and I waited with Miss Piper, Isaiah’s mom, for our family to come. I feel like Isaiah kind of looks up to me, he keeps calling me over to look at random things on the ground and asking me for stuff. Mr. Manuel was speaking Portuguese during class so I translated for Isaiah’s little sister Taylor. She asked me if I understood the language and I said a little. Just a random thought: I realized I like trying to figure people out. For example: I’ve been trying to figure Oliver out ever since he came, since he and i don’t talk much, but in general he doesn’t talk much. From what I see, he likes music, nature, and being in the outdoors; he’s very kindhearted and has an interest in technological endeavors; and he blushes a lot.

Yesterday Mommy and Miss Anastasia sang love lifted me for the Easter program. I was looking around from where Danielle, Tessa, Kayla and I were sitting by the piano and saw Oliver actually smile. He was grinning so hard that his older sister Serena nudged him and was like “Stop, you’re embarrassing.” After Oliver, Serena, Elliot, and Tio Wilson, the VicuĂąa family, played their instruments, I was trying to tell Oliver from across the room that they did a good job, but I just smiled instead, hoping he understood, and he smiled back. I think we’re going to be friends just fine. After the program, I was walking to the door and saw Oliver standing by the pastors office, facing the front door. Ethan tapped him on the shoulder then darted into the sanctuary. Oliver looked around and saw me. I put up my hands in mock innocence, then glanced toward the sanctuary. He scratched his head and turned back around. Tio Wilson and Tia Celestina, Oliver’s parents, are now friends with Mommy and Daddy, so they’re probably going to want their kids to be friends too. That’s fine with me, I’d like to get to know Oliver better, he’s a nice guy.

I don’t know why I made this diary entry so long. It was really a pain to write all of this. I can’t put the dates because I feel like that would be giving too much information and I’m to lazy to make fake dates😁. Please tell me what you guys think of this❤️❤️

  1. I loved it! It was actually reminiscent for me of Jo’s chapter to her family about Bhaer in “Little Women.” And I so get the typing thing! More than you know, actually… Anyways, really, really good job!
