Wednesday, September 16 – Timothy Macdonald
So. Now what am I gonna do? Now that I told Mae, how am I going to face her at school without everybody noticing? At least school lets out early. I go to school. The usual. Nobody knows, nobody notices. Phew! About an hour after school I go to the back of the schoolhouse and hear singing. I look, and I see Ava. Wait, what? She never sang by herself before. Huh. I go up to her and say, “Hi Ava!”
“AH! Oh hi, Tim, you scared me!”
I laugh, “I heard singing so I decided to find out!”
“Well, I just feel so happy today!”
“Why?”
“Ummm, I can’t really tell you. . .”
“Oh that’s ok! If you don’t really feel like telling, it’s ok.”
Now I walk down the street and go to the park. I sit down and turn up my favourite playlist. I relive my experiences when I was a gangster. I feel so discouraged. I pray to God, Why? Can you help me? Please? Help me not think about this anymore. Please God. Amen. Then I see a new song on my phone: for KING & COUNTRY – burn the ships (Official Music Video). I play it, and am inspired and encouraged. I start to get up off of the bench, but then I see Mae. Oh, brother. Now what am I gonna do? Oh, well, I guess I’ll have to sneak outta here.
So I carefully get off the bench and go to a hidden spot where I can see what Mae does. Bruh. Too late. She sees me, and starts walking towards me. I start getting a little stressed out, but I tell myself, It’s ok. Just be calm and it will be fine. Calm down.
“Oh, hi, Tim! I didn’t see you there!” Mae smiles slightly.
“Uh, hi, Mae!” I respond.
Hopefully she didn’t hear my hesitation. I mean, come on, what is there to be stressed about?
Yeah, uh, I’m not bragging, but, heheh, I look pretty good with headphones. Classic Eystreem look (Minecraft again [duh]).
“So, uh, what’s up?” Mae asks, playing with her watch.
“Well, I was just sitting listening to music, thinking–”
Do I dare tell her about my past? What would she think of me? Hopefully she doesn’t think there’s something suspicious about me. . .
“ Oh, I was thinking too, I came on a walk to get away from my noisy siblings…”
“Oh siblings, eh?” I laugh. “So much the same with me. I almost don’t want to go home after school. It’s become a routine with me now!” I laugh again.
“Yeah.” Mae smiles.
As we talk, suddenly I feel– well, it’s too hard to explain. How do I tell her? But anyway, she’s still kinda young. After she turns 13; then maybe I’ll tell her. Yeah. For now, I’ll just flirt around the bush. Hehehe. . .
