Old Collection of Nature Poems/Story

Hi everyone! This is a collection of work, which includes two poems and a short story, which I wrote a little while ago.
I’m reposting them because I accidentally forgot to give credit to the images which accompanied them from earlier.
Also, I’m excited to share some of my artistic pieces with you all!
This image comes from a coloring book called Forest Animals through Dover Publications.
I colored in the drawings which were created by an illustrator named Diane Gaspas. Enjoy!
 1st poem:

I know where the grass creeps along
the ground

I
listen and hear every sound as it sucks up moisture from the wet earth

Farther
away from the emerald grass and soft clay, animals and plants move

I
listen and hear the calling of birds that swing on spindly twigs

I
listen and hear the sighing of trees that bend their branches high above

I
listen and hear the beating of wings as butterflies soar over flowery fields

I
listen and hear the rubbing of legs as ladybugs sleep on a bed of dandelion

The
grass crawls silently in the middle of all the whizzing and shrill noises

Beautiful
noises, wonderful noises, and never-ending noises

Noises
that fill up the leafy, golden cup of a meadow on an early spring day

The
grass creeps along the ground, and I listen to every sound.

 2nd poem:

A
cat’s blue eyes stare into mine

Her
tongue is as rough as salt-water

Her
voice as soft as feathery down

Her
fur as white as melted cream

Her
tail as twisting as a sleeper’s dream

My
dear cat, where do you go tonight?

With
your blue eyes, you could conquer sadness

To
the one who looks at you, joy arises

With
your tongue, you could conquer madness

To
the one who talks to you, anger vanishes

With
your tail, you could conquer lameness

To
the one who touches you, strength is given

Little
cat, will you take me where you go tonight?

Will
your fur brush against darkness?

A
tree branch masks your head

Or,
will your cries pierce the inky blackness?

Causing
hope to rise when once thought dead?

Most
clever feline, tonight is yours and mine

Take
me with you where you go, and I will have much to show.

Short Story: (In the form of a poem)

            A
million stars zoom off towards the planets, but my story has only just begun

A
million bright and brilliant rainbows, all except for one

The
littlest star was oh so far from all its larger companions

Try
as it would, the littlest star could not follow behind them

The
littlest star could see the blue marble of Neptune as it skidded past

The
littlest star could almost feel the stinging gases of Venus as it raced on

But
try as it would, the littlest star could not make out a clear path

Amid
all the neon purples, oranges, and reds, the littlest star felt dread

The
littlest star could hear the rusting of copper-red Mars as it whizzed away

The
littlest star could see the wide rings of Saturn as it moved on

But
try as it would, the littlest star was hopelessly lost in orbit

Lost
among all the airy, free, and disorienting spaces

The
littlest star could almost smell the salt-water of Earth as it flew aside

The
littlest star could see the flaming sunsets of Mercury as it carried on

But
try as it would, the littlest star, in the middle of awesome sights, was in
despair

The
littlest star almost didn’t care where it went or traveled

The
littlest star was almost jolted by the cockeyed turning of Uranus as it brushed
past

The
littlest star ignored Jupiter’s rush and flow, a constant eruption of volcano

Finally,
after all that it had tried, the littlest star sat and cried

It
didn’t care who saw its tears or what would happen in this land of fears

Suddenly,
a colossal explosion filled the place and painted everything in a cosmic dye

The
littlest star got up from where it sat and stared up in awe at the sight

A
still, small voice, one of choice beauty, asked, “Little star, why were
you weeping?”

The
little star looked up and said, “I am lost and don’t know where to go.”

The
beautiful voice said, “Little star, I will guide you if you are willing.”

The
littlest star sent out a bright beam as it hoped for the fulfillment of a dream

The
beautiful voice took the star to a patch of dark sky

The
littlest star looked around and said, “I cannot do much here.”

The
beautiful voice said, “Wait and see. Although you are small,

you
will do great things for me.” The littlest star settled in place.

Eventually,
its sense of smallness faded away with the dawn of each new day.

Finally,
the littlest star’s sadness finally took flight as it illuminated the beauty of
night.

A
little girl, not a while later, saw the star and took heart. She knew that she
was just as special in the eyes of the Creator who gave the world its first
start.

That’s the end! Please, let me know what you think in the comment section! Blessings to you all! Love you! love
