It was night time. Everyone was fast asleep as the world became dark. Well, it was supposed to be that way. Turns out, little Tommy was wide awake sneaking into Rebekah’s bedroom. “Rebekah,” Tommy whispered while tapping her sister’s shoulder. “Rebekah?” He said again. “REBEKAH!!!!!” Rebekah was wide awake after that scream in her ear.
“What is it? Leave me alone! I’m tired! Leave me to sleep in peace.” Rebekah said.
“Wait,” Tommy said. “You just said peas.” Well, she did just say the word peas; and I heard that warm milk helps you fall asleep. Tommy thought in his head. That’s it! I’ll go to the kitchen, and eat peas and warm milk. So Tommy went to the kitchen, grabbed a bag of peas, got a glass of milk, and put it in the microwave.
As the microwave was heating up the milk, Rebekah heard the sound of the microwave, and went downstairs to see what was the noise. Turns out, she saw Tommy gulping down cold peas with frostbite while the milk was turning into warm milk. “What are you doing?” Rebekah said. Tommy got scared really bad. He swallowed his peas, got up his spoon, and tried to hit her with the spoon.
“You. Don’t. Scare. Me. You. Monster!” Tommy said as he said each word with one hit. “Woah woah woah.” Rebekah said. First of all, why are you eating cold peas in the middle of the night?” “You said.” Tommy said with peas stuffed in his mouth.” “Oh. You thought I said peas when I said peace.” Rebekah said. “So, you’re telling that this was unnecessary?” Tommy said. “I guess.” Rebekah said. “Also, why did you call me a monster?”
“Because Layla told me that middle children are monsters.” Tommy said. “Then why did you wake me up?” Rebekah told him. “I had a nightmare of lots of you and I was trying to ask you if you had a cure for nightmares.” Tommy said. “Well, did you know that God gives us peace so we don’t have these kinds of fears?” Rebekah said. “Really?” Tommy said. “What verse?” “Psalm 4:8. Wanna hear it?” Rebekah said. “Yes, please!” Tommy said.
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O lord, make me dwell in safely.”
“So, with God, I can sleep ok?” Tommy said. “Exactly!” Rebekah said. “Now, finish your milk and go to bed. It’s 1:12 am and very late at night.” Rebekah said. “Ok. Night night!” Tommy said to Rebekah. So Tommy went to bed, and other than that part of the night, it was peaceful. And all of the family slept well. Especially Tommy.
The End.
