Dear Lord, please hear me as I pray,
and give me strength through out the day.
Strength to return only kind words
when the things people say cut like swords.
Strength to help a stranger bear their heavy load
up and down this treacherous road
Strength to ignore rude things said to me,
and still be the child you want me to be.
Strength to be as a serpent wise,
and gentle as a lamb without guise.
Strength to spread your word abroad,
no matter what others say of you and me, God.
So God help me become faithful and strong
and keeping my steps from turning to wrong.
And one more thing since I’m alive,
please give me strength just to survive.
