Back in the olden days of photography, people had to sit perfectly still for their portraits. Nobody thought to smile in this frozen position. But what if they did smile? We would remember our church pioneers in a different way.

On the left is the original photograph provided by the Ellen G. White Estate. In the middle, our lead designer altered the photo with a slight smile, and then finally with a toothy grin.
