A Heart, A Rose

Just to clarify when you read this. The guys are not totally at fault. Oh no. The girl’s have their part to play. But in this poem, I’m showing the girl’s side of the picture. You can easily replace “her” heart with “his” heart.

A Heart, A Rose

A rose is growing sweetly along a dusty road,
There’s priceless bounds of beauty, upon the rose bestowed.
It doesn’t flaunt it’s beauty. “Hey there! Look at me!”
It simply grows beside the road, contented, a rose to be.

It’s petals made of velvet, an even deeper red,
The leaves of deepest green, adorn it’s crimson head.
It’s so fragile and so new, it’s fragrances so sweet.
Oh, so easily it could be gone, by the steps of careless feet.

Just a footstep, maybe two, the rose is gone for good.
There are no more rays of sun, where the rose once stood.
The rose was way too delicate, to be treated in this way.
The years of priceless beauty, were gone within a day.

A girl is growing sweetly, with many goals in view.
She has so many dreams, so many things to do.
She doesn’t flaunt her beauty. “Hey there! Look at me!”
She simply grows, maturing, as God would want her to be.

Her heart is made of kindness, and even deeper care.
Her hands are made of willingness, her thoughts are clothed with prayer.
She’s so fragile and so new, her disposition sweet.
How so easily, could her heart be hurt, by some careless feet.

Just a footstep, maybe two, her heart is gone for good.
There are no more rays of cheer, where her heart once stood.
Her heart was way too delicate, to be treated in this way.
The years of priceless beauty, were gone within a day.

Hearts cannot be handled, like a sack of wheat.
They can’t be thrown without a thought to the dusty street.
They have to be handled gently, with utmost love and care.
You cannot take a heart, and throw it anywhere.

Be always careful with her heart, don’t ever be too rough.
For there will one day come a time, when her heart has had enough.
A heart must always be held as softly as the cool breeze blows.
For a heart to bear it’s grace, it must be treated like a rose.
