Romans 5:3-5 – All Caps

The Washington Capitals are playing for the Stanley Cup!

For the first time in 20 years, the Caps will be in the Stanley Cup Final. In the past, so many Caps seasons have come to an end in Game 7 heartbreak in fashion. Many of their seasons ended at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Just because the Pens always defeated the Caps didn’t mean this trend would continue.

The Caps overcame two obstacles. Over the course of their Post-season history, the Pens have defeated the Caps nine out of the 10 times they squared off. However, this time was different as the Caps got past their rivals in six games. Then in the Eastern Conference Finals, they were able to win a game 7 on the road against the number one seed, Tampa Bay Lighting.

Nobody likes obstacles they aren’t fun to deal with. They slow up our processes and plans. They keep us from moving forward in our dreams and desires that God has placed in our hearts. They at times block us from seeing the untapped potential for our future.

The funny thing about obstacles is there’s no spiritual growth without them. Every believer has at one time or countless times dealt with incredible obstacles in the way of God’s direction for their lives.
God reminds us in Romans 5:3-5 that suffering ultimately produces hopes. “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” When we get to heaven, we won’t have to deal with any obstacles! Our time on this earth is the process of proving our faith in the Jesus.
