Psalm 59:17 – The National Anthem

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Steven Brault sings the National Anthem.

Prior to their game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Steven got behind home plate and sang the National Anthem. According to MLB.com, Steven was in theater and choir programs growing up and he majored in vocal performance.” His career ambition at one time was to be a musical performer.

It’s something specifically my grandma always wanted me to do, “Steven said. “She wanted me to sing the National Anthem before a Major League game that i got to play in, so that’s part of it.”

God created us to be instrumented with the capability to sing and make music. Psalm 59:17 reads “O my strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, The God who shows me steadfast love.” Music is an important part of worship and praise to God.

Some people are really great singers, and even if we aren’t, that shouldn’t keep us from belting out a song of joy when we are in love or filled with the Holy Spirit. Singing rises out of the essence of our souls. We don’t have to be trained singers or gifted in singing to raise our voices and heart to Him who we praise. Our thanksfulness in song will lift His name.

We never know how God will use our singing of personal testimonies to bring someone to Jesus. Sing a song of praise today.
