Proverbs 21:31

Proverbs 21:31 reminds readers that no matter what, victory belongs to the Lord.

In Proverbs 21:31, Solomon very wisely tells the reader that while the soldier makes all the necessary preparations to win the battle, only God can truly take the credit for the win. Think of it this way: when you lace up your shoes for a game, do your stretches, and put on your uniform, you make sure you’ve done all the necessary things to prepare for the game. These things are done because ultimately, they help you play in the game. Now whether you win or lose, the process is always the same, so obviously, doing those things don’t determine who wins or loses. That’s why it’s important to recognize God and the talents that He blessed you with whether you win or lose. Ultimately, the victory always belongs to the Lord!
