Proverbs 16:3 – Mr. 3,000

Baseball has a new member in the 3,000-hit club.

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols joined the exclusive 3,000-hit club last week.
With over 600 home runs Albert is a shoe-in to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame; however, these accomplishments helps bring into focus just how incredible a hitter Albert has been over the past 18 years.

Albert always had goals on becoming a Major League player. At this stage of his career, he’s living out his dreams. Setting goals can be hard. If you pick one too easy you will ask yourself why you didn’t pick a harder goal. if you pick one too difficult you might get frustrated at the fact that’s taking a while to accomplish it. Albert could have settled at just making it to the big leagues, but he continued to work on his craft and set new goals for himself. Batting over .300 for a season, over 30 home runs for a season, over 100 runs batted in for a season he kept challenging himself to get more.

How do you go about setting goals that really matter? How do you pick things that God cares about? Some questions to think about. Proverbs 16:3 reads “Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.” You should want to achieve goals that matter to God. You should want to change the areas in your life He wants to be changed.

A challenge for you; set weekly goals where you can love and serve people more. If you struggle with this seek His heart in prayer and He will be faithful to speak what he wants to be changed.
