Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is known for his hard-knock leadership. So it’s no surprise that he instituted a “no-hazing” rule in his camp. If you remember, a couple of months ago Dez Bryant was the subject of hazing and he didn’t like it at all.
Garrett doesn’t want rookies on his team to feel un-welcomed. He wants his veterans to make sure that the rookies feel right at home when they come to camp because that’s what being a part of a team means. Garrett isn’t the only coach to institute this policy though, the Jaguars and Patriots are among some other teams that also discourage hazing.
I just think it’s pretty cool that there are still people who stand up for the right thing. Hazing is stupid and senseless. If you feel like you’re being hazed, stand up for yourself. If people try to make fun of you or say that you’re not being a good sport, just point out this example.
***UPDATE***
Do you guys remember those twin brothers who were in that in that $50,000 hockey shot? Some of you voted in the poll and let’s recap the results:
So 24% of you thought that Nate should get to keep the money even though it wasn’t his ticket, and 29& of you thought that Nate’s brother, Nick, should get to take the shot. But 41% of you think that Nate should at least get to keep half the money.
In the end, the company who was sponsoring the contest decided that they would donate $20,000 to youth hockey in Minnesota in Nate’s and Nick’s name. Basically, the boys don’t get to keep the money. I don’t think that’s fair but this wouldn’t have happened if Nate would’ve been honest before he took the shot. That’s a tough lesson to learn, but hey, I bet they’ll never make that mistake again.
