Tony & the Mysterious Farm, Chapter 2

Tony’s hands trembled as the fog curled around the silent farm.

Just as he backed away from the barn, a voice cut through the stillness.

“Careful where you step, son.”

Tony nearly jumped out of his skin.

Standing near the fence, as if he had always been there, was a man Tony could have sworn hadn’t existed a moment ago. He wore a long brown coat and a wide-brimmed hat that shaded his face.

Tony stared. “I… I didn’t see you.”

Faint lines creased the man’s calm expression as he smiled faintly.

“Most don’t,” he said.

Tony hesitated. “Who are you?”

The man removed his hat slowly.

“My name is Mr. Eduardo.”

There was something strangely reassuring about him, yet something else Tony couldn’t explain — as if the air itself shifted around the man.

Mr. Eduardo glanced toward the open barn.

“You shouldn’t stay out here,” he said. “It isn’t safe.”

Tony’s voice wavered. “What isn’t safe?”

Instead of answering, Mr. Eduardo turned and walked toward the barn door.

After a long, nervous pause, Tony followed.

Inside, the barn was colder than the outside air. Dust floated in pale beams of light. Mr. Eduardo moved with confidence, stepping over broken boards until he stopped at the far corner.

He pulled aside an old tarp.

Beneath it lay a metal hatch.

Tony’s eyes widened.

Without a word, Mr. Eduardo lifted it.

A dark opening yawned below, and a narrow ladder descended into darkness.

“A tunnel?” Tony whispered.

Mr. Eduardo nodded. “Come.”

Every instinct told Tony to run.

But curiosity — stronger than fear — pulled him forward.

Down they climbed.

Minutes later, Tony found himself walking through something he could barely understand: a perfectly round, black metal cylinder stretching endlessly ahead. The walls were smooth, cold, and faintly reflective, swallowing nearly all light.

Their footsteps echoed strangely.

No wind.

No insects.

No sound except movement.

Then Tony saw it.

Far ahead.

A glow.

Soft. Unnatural. Pulsing gently.

Tony’s breath caught as they approached.

And when he finally understood what stood inside that glowing chamber…

He stopped dead.

Because staring back at him…

Was something he never, ever thought he would see in his life
