Once upon a time there was a Boy named Tony. one day Tony went to ride his blue bike through a forest. so, Tony started pedaling down a hill. but when he got to the middle of the forest, he saw an abandoned farm.
The sky darkened, though it is still afternoon.
He slowed as the farmhouse came into view.
The wind stopped.
Tony heard his bike chain click too loudly.
He parked near a broken gate.
The gate swung open on its own.
Tony swallowed and stepped inside.
The farm was silent, unnaturally so.
A single piece of paper was nailed to a post.
Tony pulls it free with shaking fingers.
He read the words.
“This place has many secrets to be discovered.”
Tony froze.
The barn door creaked open a few inches.
Tony froze again.
He thought it was only the wind.
There was no wind.
A low thud comes from inside the barn.
Tony takes one slow step backward.
The ground feeled hollow beneath his foot.
Another thud echoes.
He grips the note like a warning.
From the barn, something scratches wood.
Tony’s breath becomes loud in his ears.
He looks back toward the road.
The road is gone, swallowed by fog.
The barn door opens wider.
A strange shadow appeared from the barn gate.
Tony said “hello?”
Nobody replied.
The note slipped from his hand.
And behind him, the gate slammed shut!
but that a story for another day.
