The Missing Lunchbox

Mia skipped into the cafeteria, humming happily. Her mom had packed her favorite lunch — peanut butter and jelly, apple slices, and a cookie. But when she opened her cubby… her lunchbox was gone!

“Where is it?” she whispered, checking the floor and the hooks. Then she saw Jordan, the new kid, sitting alone at a table. In front of him was… her lunchbox.

Mia got angry. He stole it! she thought. She marched over, ready to grab it back. But when she got closer, she noticed Jordan’s eyes. They looked watery, like he was about to cry.

“My mom had to go to work early,” Jordan explained quietly. “She didn’t have time to pack me anything. I was so hungry, I didn’t know what else to do.”

Mia froze. Part of her wanted to yell, “That’s mine!” But another part remembered what she’d learned at Sabbath School: Be kind and share, just like Jesus.

So Mia sighed and said, “It’s okay. We can share” She sat down and split the sandwich in half. Jordan’s face lit up like sunshine.

That afternoon, Mia told her mom what happened. Her mom smiled. “You gave more than food today. You gave kindness. That’s exactly what God wants us to do.”
