The Case of the Missing Coin – Part 2
Oliver pressed his ear against the wall.
Clink.
There it was again. The sound of metal tapping something hard.
Like a coin.
Inside the wall.
“That’s impossible…” Oliver whispered.
He looked around his room and grabbed a small flashlight from his desk. Near the bottom of the wall was a tiny vent.
Very tiny.
Too small for a person.
But maybe not too small for something else.
Oliver knelt down and shined the flashlight through the vent.
At first he saw nothing but dust and wood beams.
Then something moved.
A tiny shadow.
Oliver squinted.
And then he saw it.
A tiny door.
Right inside the wall.
And the door slowly creaked open.
Out stepped a very small person.
About the size of Oliver’s hand.
The tiny person wore a little brown coat and tiny boots.
And in his hands…
He was carrying Oliver’s golden coin.
Oliver gasped.
The tiny person gasped too.
They stared at each other.
Then the tiny person shouted,
“RUN!”
And suddenly three more tiny people rushed out of the door, all holding shiny coins.
