Shepherd Boy
Tending the sheep, the boy heaved a sigh.
Oh, how he wished the Messiah would come nigh.
Suddenly, a blinding light filled the night sky.
The fearful little boy was sheerly petrified!
Then, the angelic host, seemingly flying flames,
Broke out in heavenly song and heartfelt praise.
The shepherd boy stared in awe
As the angels disappeared, followed by a crow’s lone caw.
Then the shepherds ran to Bethlehem to see if the good news was true.
Was He really here? Had heaven come true?
They found a young woman, whose name was Mary,
Among sheep and donkeys, her baby she carried.
The shepherd boy thought, with tears filling up his eyes,
Here is the Lion of Judah, the King of my heart
Of this I will testify.
I have seen the Son of God,
With my lowly shepherd eyes.
