A Seed of Hope, Chapter 4

A Seed of Hope- Chapter 4

Roza anxiously gazed out the window of her home, another session of prayer for their daughter. It was hailing outside, and Adina had not returned home. She started to imagine the worst that could happen when Aaron wrapped his arms around Roza’s shaking body and whispered words of assurance.

Distraught, Roza escaped her husband’s embrace, whirled around and yelled, “How can you be calm in a moment like this! Our daughter could be holding on to dear life or even be dead right now! Don’t you care?”

Roza instantly regretted her harsh words when Aaron, his voice trembling and his eyes smarting with unshed tears, said quietly, “I care very much about our daughter, and you know that. And I am afraid for our daughter as well. But don’t you remember, dear? We spent the whole morning praying for our daughter! Don’t you believe Jehovah will protect our child?”

Roza hugged Aaron and apologized. “I’m so sorry, my dear. I do believe in Jehovah’s promises. Now all we need to do is wait and pray.”

As Adina lay motionless on the soft grass of the flower-filled meadow, Mary panicked and tried to shake Adina awake.

“Adina! Wake up, please! Come on, Adina! Wake up!” Mary cried helplessly, tears streaming down her face.

Adina had informed Mary of her rare condition before, but Mary had never imagined Adina could actually have an attack. Suddenly,  Mary spotted a man in a brown hood walking across the outskirts of the meadow. Mary knew it was risky- it was getting dark and bandits were common- but she had no other choice.

“Sir! Sir! Please help us!” Mary yelled desperately at the top of her lungs, but the downpour of hail made her cry disappear in the wind.

The hooded figure quickly headed towards the town for shelter, moving away from the direction where Mary and Adina were.

She slumped to the grass in defeat and started to cry, but she spotted a cave and, with strength that could only be bestowed by Jehovah, dragged her unconscious friend into it.

Mary noticed Adina’s breathing was becoming shallow and her lips were becoming a deathly blue. Terrified for the life of her friend, Mary spread her own cloak across Adina’s body and lifted her face to the angry skies.

“Jehovah, you see the predicament Adina and I are in. Please, don’t let Adina die. You know she is a good person, and follows all Your commands. Please bring her healing.”

Mary, shivering with cold and fear, cried herself to a restless sleep, while Jehovah was healing her dear friend.
