The next day, Laina yawned as she looked out the window.
“A perfect day!”she said excitedly. She walked to her closet and peeked in. There she was! Kat, laying peacefully in her homemade cat bed Laina had made for her.
“Hi Kat! Had a good nap?!” she said. The cat meowed in agreement. She looks at her clock. “Time to get ready for the day! We have a eventful day today.”
Laina went into the shower and got her clothes on. She brushed her teeth and went downstairs.
“Hey sweetie!” Mom said.
“Hi, Mom! What’s for breakfast?” asked Laina. “Cereal.” said Mom
She started to eat and then paused. Shouldn’t I pray before eating? she thought. She whispered a quick prayer and ate, watching if her mom was looking. “Hey Mom, can I go to the store and buy some stuff from your grocery list?” Laina asked Mom.
“That would be a great help, sure! I’ll give you money.”she replied.
“Thanks Mom!” I’ll go now!”
She got the money and went out the door to go buy the things at the grocery store a few blocks away.
Please have tuna on it! Please have tuna on it! She pleaded in her mind as she looked at the list.
Cabbage… tomato… tuna! Yes! she thought. Now I dont have to feel guilty if I buy it with my mom’s money! Kat will have a good lunch today!
She walked and walked until she saw a few teenagers hanging out on the sidewalk. I can just slip past and they might not even notice me. she thought, thinking of her older brother who was a teenager and didn’t really notice people.
“Hey, its a little kid!” one of the teenagers said. “She must be lost and cant find her way back home! Hahaha!”
Oh no! They must be very observant! I better run ba-
“Hey, kid. Running back to you’re mommy?” another one teased.
God, help me!
