Part 1 – Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Kai who loved the ocean very much.

He lived in a small coastal town where the smell of saltwater filled the air and fishing boats lined the docks every morning. Most kids in town didn’t think much about the ocean—it was just always there.

But Kai was different.

He paid attention.

He noticed the way tides changed.
He studied maps for fun.
He memorized coastlines and currents.

His uncle, who owned a small fishing boat, once said, “You know more about these waters than most adults.”

Kai liked that.

One afternoon, while helping clean out an old storage shed near the docks, Kai found a dusty metal box hidden behind some broken nets.

Inside was a rolled-up piece of paper.

He opened it carefully.

It was a map.

But something about it was strange.

It didn’t match the modern charts Kai had seen.

The lines were hand-drawn.

The markings were rough.

And far out in the water, there was a small island drawn—an island Kai had never seen before.

In the corner, written in faded ink, were the words:

“Uncharted. Shallow water. Approach carefully.”

Kai’s heart beat faster.

He knew every island in the area.

Or at least, he thought he did.
