Just Jacqueline, Chapter 5

The next day I got ready and headed to the school bus but neither Jasmine nor Elsie were there.

I sat down by myself and pulled out my phone.

“where r u,” I texted.

It turned out Jasmine was sick and had made Elsie sick so I would be only with Lyle today. I saw Janie sit down in the bus. Her eyes were red from crying. She shoved her phone in her face and held her head down.

Once we got to the school, Janie had to hold up her head to put her things in her locker. Just then one of the girls said, “Oh, look. It’s the crybaby.” Other girls started to bully her too. I felt God telling me to stand up to her. But she was so mean. I saw her trying not to break down in tears.

So I turned to the other girls. “Why are you doing this. It’s not going too change anything. It only makes you a bully.”

The other girls looked at me in surprise. “Fine,” they said and walked away.

“Thanks,” Janie said softly. “But I was so mean to you. I’m just so sorry. I’m just really having a bad day.”

“It’s okay. I forgive you. I understand how you feel.”

She glanced up at me. “You’re always so happy. I’m just so scared!”

“Why are you scared?” I asked.

“My parents are going to get divorced and-”

“What!” I exclaimed. She looked at me. “My parents got divorced too.”

“Really?”

“Really,” I assured her.

We talked a little longer and then headed to class. I was happy I had done the right thing and I hoped that everything would work out with Janie. I bowed my head. “God I pray that everything would work out with Janie’s parents. Amen.

Sorry that this chapter is sorta short just with Christmas and all I’ve been busy hope y’all like it and merry Christmas
