Hidden Heart

I don’t
want anyone to see

The
darkness that resides in me

All the
pain and sorrow

All the
fears about tomorrow

Why is it
that being alone

Is what my
heart calls home

God, I
fear to tell others what’s in my heart

But maybe
talking to you will be a start

Why does
society make me feel

That I
would appear mentally ill

Should I
show my painful feelings true

To anyone
other than You?

And why do
I hide behind a smiling mask

Any time
someone bothers to ask?

Since I
hide from the human eye,

I thank
thee God, for hearing my silent cry.
