Lawson Craddock shows that the last will be first.
Lawson finished last, and won thousands of new admirers by finishing The Tour De France. He fractured his scapula on July 7; he also had a gash along his right eyebrow that required stitches. Lawson was a victim of a hard crash caused by a water bottle.
“I didn’t really want to just give up immediately,” Craddock later told Houston Public Media’s Florian Martin “I was raised tougher than that, raised in Texas. We’re born fighters.” Lawson posted on his website that he pushed himself well beyond his limits.
Colossians 3:23 reads “Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.” There were many times during the race he could have doubted himself and given up. However, with the encouragement he received Lawson used that as motivation to cross the finish line in Paris.
We never know when our last day on this earth will be. Nevertheless here’s what we do know—we have a choice right now, today, to finish well. Your new start to the finish could begin today. Regardless of your past mistakes and missteps, weakness and failures…regardless of how you started this race, you can decide to begin your finish well! Use encouragement from your support system as motivation and ask God to give you the wisdom and the power to finish strong.
