The Meeting

In 1634, Roger Williams was thrown out of Salem, Massachusetts for preaching that people should be free to follow their beliefs and that the colonists of that time should treat Native American’s fairly. He went on to found the state of Rhode Island, which became a haven for people escaping religious persecution.

A Young King's Box

In 1922, an explorer named Howard Carter uncovered an Egyptian tomb filled with gold. The tomb also contained the mummy of a pharoah who was only 19 years old when he died. Tutankhamun lived some 1300 years before Christ. He died after breaking his leg (possibly in a chariot accident). At the time of his burial, an ivory box was put in the tomb with this art etched on the lid. This is our most difficult puzzle.

Pilgrim Prayer

After sailing for two months in a cramped ship, the pilgrims were mightly glad to arrive in New England. To put it in William Bradford's words: "Being thus arived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees & blessed ye God of heaven, who had brought them over ye vast & furious ocean, and delivered them from all ye periles & miseries therof, againe to set their feete on ye firme and stable earth, their proper elemente."
