How do we know that Saturday is the holy day? I mean, I know the Bible says so, but I need proof. Where is the proof? What proof do we have?

dear,panda power

according to genesis 2v1-3 the bible states that after the heavens and the eath was finished, on the seventh day god ended his work and he blessed the seventh day and santified it. this means god has created a special day to spend time with us his children and we who rest 0n this day, from six days of toil and labour we are honouring god's beautiful things which he has created.

p.s. exodus 20 v 8-11. i hope this will give you enough proof

What proof do you need other than the bible but I will add this where does the week come from no where other than the bible and I will also tell you this several years ago the US army was experimenting with a 10 day work week do you know what they discovered? that our bodies will not function well unless we have 6 days of work and 1 day of rest. and also here is an interesting tidbit in many languages of the world the word for Saturday is Sabbath (well Sabbath in their language of course) and here is somting I have to thank the jaguar for www.remnantofgod.org/break1break10.htm

In Genesis 2:2, God refrained from creation on the seventh day, and sanctified it. The Sabbath is God's memorial of a completed creation. Later, he gave the Ten Commandments to the Jews at Mount Sinai, reminding them to keep the Sabbath. Also, breaking the Sabbath means breaking the other nine.
To break the Sabbath you are robbing God. That is stealing.
To steal it you must want it for yourself. That is coveting.
To covet it for yourself, you are focusing on other things. That is having other gods.
Having other gods->graven images
You get the point.
Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the needy and oppressed.

you should probably pray, and if you go to Exodus 20:8-10. it says that the seventh day is the Sabbath. and, if you look at the calendar, Saturday is the seventh day. hope this helped! :silly: :woohoo: ;)

We have proof that Saturday is the Sabbath from the Bible.

"Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your G-d; you shall not do any work-you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and consecrated it."
Exodus 20:8-11

It's pretty clear that the Seventh day is Saturday- Jews still worship on the Sabbath.

We can trust the Bible- It's proven its true through prophecy. One of the best known prophecies that has been proved true is found in Daniel chapter 2.

It's where Nebernezzer saw the giant statue, it outlined exactly what was going to happen in the world, of the 6 'stages' of the prophecy, 5 have happened exactly as told. That proves the Bible is a reliable source of truth.
God Bless,
Tim

Exodus 20:10 "but the seventh day is a Sabbath to The Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns" (NIV)

Exodus 20:11 "For in six days The Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore The Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." (NIV)

The Bible should be all the proof that we need. :)

A lot of people have said that 'The Bible is all the evidence we need' - I don't agree.

We need to be able to prove the Bible is true- we shouldn't take for granted that it is, For myself, I know the Bible is true prophecy shows it- However, I challenge everyone-study till you know you can prove the Bible is true.

Exactly. Although the bible is the standard by which all must be judged, we should all take the time to study the prophecies, proverbs, sermons, and advice found in its books.

1. The Bible says that God created the word in 6 days. Then what did He do on the seventh? God rested on the seventh day and made it holy.

2. When Jesus lived here on earth, what did He do on the Sabbath? He went to the synogogue and read the Scriptures to the people.

3. Because the Bible is GOd's holy word itself, we can trust what it says even if it is sometimes hard to believe. It is God's own words.

The Bible and God are the only proof, and other things, like the Jews. And why do you question the Bible?
So let me sing for the love
Let me love for the lost
Let me lose all I have
For what I found on the cross
Let me trust you with my life
Let me live to give you praise
Lord, let me praise you
For the grace by which I'm saved
Lord, let me sing

Yes, but some people have the first day as Monday and the seventh day is Sunday. You need more proof than a calendar. Catholics would be able to easily disagree with you.

2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV "We live by faith, not by sight." If God said that we were to keep the 7th day holy(set apart for God) then I say trust and obey, because God has our wellbeing in mind :) . Mark 2:27 "Then he(Jesus) said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.' " I like to picture the Sabbath as a special gift from God to us. As special time appointed with the divine to spend with Him and with others to bond and grow stronger with Him/them. Not just as a day of rest. God made the Sabbath because He loves us. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :) B)
2 Tim 3:16-17 NKJV "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Okay, I actually need some clarification. Is your question how we know that Sabbath is sanctified by God or how we know that Saturday is the seventh day sanctified by God?

Weeelllll it's SO SO SO SO simple!!!! You see in Genesis it says that God rested on the seventh day and made it Holy. Well we can trust the Bible because it was worded by God! And what is the seventh day? Tell me tell me! See how simple it is. Of course Saturday is the seventh day IT IS SO SIMPLE!
