TOPIC: the (hopefully not) Future alcoholic friend

the (hopefully not) Future alcoholic friend 4 years 11 months ago #15436

I have this friend at school who thinks that drinking will show maturity. My friend Kevin and I Have been trying to talk her out of it, but she just gets more stubborn. She says that she wont get drunk or addicted, she says she'll just take a shot or 2 from time to time. We are worried about her. She can get carried away sometimes trying to prove a point. She thinks life is ALL about "living it up before you die." We try to tell her its about soooooooooooooo much more. We've tried everything from calmly discussing the topic to plain trying to scare her out of it.
We dont know what to do. Any ideas?

Talk to her parents, your parents, or another trusted adult. Like Justme said, alcohol can lead to many bad things. Alcohol will not bring her true happiness, only Jesus can. I will pray for her and for you and Kevin as you decide what is best to do!

I agree. If she did become an alcoholic, there are so many things that could go wrong. What if she has a family with kids? Would her kids have to live with an alcoholic for a mom? Think of how embarrassing (or terrifying!) that would be! And what if she drove while drunk and got killed and killed other people in the process, innocent people who had done nothing wrong and had families who missed them? Drinking is a sin! TELL HER PARENTS OR SOME OTHER ADULT WHO CAN HELP. And keep trying to show her the truth of what drinking does to someone's health and relations. Look up some good solid stats to show her. :)

Hi,
The main thing to do is keep calm and pray. Keep talking to her and hopefullu God will show a miracle and she will change. By the way how old is she? Make sure she has a choice, just like Jesus gave us a choice (Him or Satan). Give her this choice: Life or Death, House or Homeless, Family or Living by yourself, and the same one Jesus gave us: Jesus or Satan. Maybe you can think of your own.
Hope this helps. :)

The best thing to do is leave it in the good Lord's hands and pray that she will stop drinking! :)

Did you know, depending on your body weight, 2 shots is enough to get drunk? And doing it 'just once' can lead to a lifetime of addiction and heartbreak?

Just sayin'...
