a) it's ok to argue and discuss. everyone is entitled to their point of view, and it's interesting to hear what other people have to say. without debate and argument, everyone would believe that they are right all the time. b) if a woman learns about God and feels that she wants to share what she has learned about God with a congregation, who are we to stop the spread of God's word? in my opinion, it really doesn't matter where the Word comes from, as long as people can hear it and learn from it. peace. ;)

Give me a reason to laugh, and I will. But you don't need to give me a reason to share God's word.

I can't believe this! Are you saying women should be slaves?
I agree with taking care of children but cooking and cleaning I'm not gonna live my life like that!   :pinch:

It was just an example!! Now, a woman can preach and everything, I just don't think it is right for her to be an ordanied minister or paster. And like I said, it's just my personal opinion

I have to say, until now, i was sure that women should be pastors and leaders of the church. I was all for that! But, what tim33 said about Paul's words got me to look it up on biblegateway.com (great website) and then in the bible. Paul does say this:

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
1 Timothy 2:11-14

I'm not sure how to decipher this but, it seems pretty clear. Let me know about any other explanations.

ordination is really just accepting that god called you to serve. you cant simply choose to be a minister

You are probably right. I must have taken it too literally. God gave us choices. He wouldn't choose favorites. Yay! I was hoping it wasn't true!

The Jaguar, Ordination is also the laying on of hands, the dedication to ministry. YOu have to pass certain requirements to become ordained.

And none of those requirements say you can't be a woman. What Paul said in 1 Timothy 2:11-14 was a personal experience. He said," I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." we don't live in a patriarchal society anymore. If we believe God does not show favorites, then why do we only allow one gender to be ordained as messengers of His word? The bible tells us that in the end time, the message will spread all over the world very quickly. Allowing the ordination of women will only further the work of the gospel. I apologize if I offended anyone

Thejaguar, the problem is this: as SDA's we claim to believe things that are only backed up by the Bible. The Bible seems to indicate that women shouldn't be pastors. I think that it is better to be safe than sorry- we shouldn't try an read our opinions into the Bible but i agree with you that we should read the Bible in context with the times in which it was written.

It's a hard topic to take sides on.

"There is no favoritism to one gender. When a congregation acknowledges the Holy Spirit working in their lives they have what they call a laying on of hands to acknowledge the working of the Holy Spirit in that persons life."

The North American Division is going to have like a prayer vigil (I'll keep the location secret) where they study their bibles, pray, and look at what ellen white says about women pastors.

eopl here that believe that women can be pastors are saying that if women can be pastors then they will further the work f God or something along those lines, but if a women wants to further the work then she can do so...but just no as a leader of a church. You can still teach people and preach to people about the bible and Jesus's soon coming. If the bile says something than it means it. Simple. It's straight from God. Seriously why are we still debating this?

Trio3, We are still debating this because with the two sides and the people who can't decide we are open to people wth what they have to say, so that we can all make up our minds. And the American Division is still debating because they don't wan to decide something and realize that they were wrong, meaning they want to do things God's way.

OK You guys, I've stayed out of this
#1, I don't want to continue a growing debate,
#2, I don't have a personal opinion.
But here goes.

Looking through history, and the Bible, whenever a big desicion has needed to be made, if it should be made, God finds a way to show the entire church, (all SDA's) at ONE time. He doesn't tell one single person, or divison a new commandment, He shows the WHOLE church at one time, ( I said that already) not one person. SO, I don't believe that the way the church is handling the situation is more un-biblical than what they are trying to handle. Even though I don't have an opinion, I think that for now we should just let it rest, and trust God to tell us what to do instead of forming our own opinions. GB

DaughterofGod12, I don't think that God always makes everything black and white for us. It will involve careful Bible study and no doubt the SDA church will be partly divided on this issue- The right answer is there, we just have to find it.
