I don't think it is appropriate. they should be listening to what is going on. when they are playing and texting during
church, they are showing disrespect to God! I hope
you guys don't do it. :(

No, we go to church to worship. We are to focus on what the pastor is saying, because it may have an impact on our lives.

I actually have a topic on this! It's called Distracted Teenagers(In Church!) Check it out. Any way, I don't think it's appropriate to be playing and texting in church! They should be listening to the sermon, instead of playing around and texting on their phones. Just my two cents. ;) B) :) :lol: :silly: :woohoo: :side:

No, I don't think that is okay. When you go to church, you go to church to worship God, not to play on your phone! If you are playing with your phone in the church service, what message are you giving? That you care more about your phone than God? :dry:

I definitely don't think it's appropriate its kind of annoying I just have to remember to focus on why I came to church and what I'm doing and try not to pay attention to them

same thing at church. we go there to learn about God and worship. play and text another time. you got 6 days out of the week to do it. ;)

I feel like it depends on who the pastor is. If you understand the pastor then you should listen, but if you dont, there is not much else to do

It's not a good thing for doing that while the pastor is preaching. When doing it, people could miss something vital the pastor talked about God.

I don't really think its appropriate, since it seems to keep ones attention away from God's word. But, I'm not sure. Is it always a bad thing? (Are there any exceptions???) Input would be appreciated.

It's not. But let them come to that decision on their own.

No, it is not appropriate to text during Church or Sabbath School. When we go to church, we go to worship God, not our smartphones. Texting, and especially playing video games, can also be VERY distracting to those near you. If my Pastor saw me texting and playing video games during church, he would kindly but firmly ask me to stop himself, because if you think about it, it could distract the Pastor too. If someone is distracting you by texting or playing games during the church service, kindly letting them know that they are distracting you and asking them to please stop generally takes care of it. The best way to go about asking a person playing video games or texting to stop, is to ask if it is something they should be doing on Sabbath.

Most importantly, if you are tempted to play video games or text message on Sabbath at all, think about it. Would Jesus play this video game today? Would Jesus have this type of conversation today? Even when you are tempted to play video games or watch movies any day of the week, think about it again. Would Jesus play this video game? Would Jesus watch this movie? Would Jesus hang out with/text this person? Texting a person who for example uses inappropriate language, can be a bad idea too, because when you are around people who do much at all, it is easy to fall into the habit yourself. Playing video games that include any type of violence at all even if it be simply punching other people/things can form bad habits. Video games with monsters, potions, and any type of witchcraft are a no-no any day of the week. There are many examples of these types of games, but the most prominent is Minecraft. I do not believe that Jesus would play Minecraft, so why should we? There are many other good video games that help you learn useful things, games that teach you about the Bible, and for those who really want a blocky video game, I will likely be releasing one next year. Though many games may seem OK because they just a really little bit of bad, they are just as bad because it is easy to fall into using the untrue/inappropriate items. All-in-all, whenever you want to play a game, watch a movie, or do anything for that matter, ask yourself, would Jesus want me to do this?

When you can't understand the sermon, read your Bible, whether you read where you want to or where the Pastor said doesn't matter. And at the end, ask the Pastor to explain his sermon. Ellen White said that any child should be able to understand the sermon. If you cannot, request that the Pastor simplify things next time, or ask an adult for help. Just reading you Bible can help you to understand almost anything that is truly Bible-based.

Before you see, hear, say, or do something, consider Philippians 4:8:
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." KJV
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

I can understand a five year old or under playing because as a five year old the sermon never interested me. I think for younger kids that wouldn't understand or enjoy the sermon it would be ok for them to do something else, but it should be bible oriented, not something that comepletely distracts them from God. For example i know this one kid who plays roblox in the middle of church! If he was playing a bible trivia or maybe doing a bible coloring book it would be ok, but roblox is comepletely unassociated with church and just distracts people.
You just wasted your time reading this meaningless signature...

Why are you still reading?

I already told you, there's nothing interesting here.

In my opinion texting in church is NOT okay. What do you come to church to do? Text? Play games? Chat w your friends?
We come to church to learn about God, if you come to do other things, why go to church at all?

I agree with SS... you have 6 other days to do everything and if you miss a text, so what, it can wait till after church

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
