Gogirl, just out of curiosity, how did you learn about Guide? I was in Wausau WI at a Christian Expo and a SDA booth was there. Some lady handed me a Guide magazine.

If you've seen a newcomer by the handle of 116Click, he's nondenominational too, and he's my brother.

I'm SDA but I introduced a non-SDA friend onto the site. Ninibug in case you've seen her.
Sometimes we worry,
Sometimes we fret.
Sometimes we feel like
We can't move a step.

But God is still with us.
Keep Him in mind.
Trust in Him alway.
He is ever so kind.

Sorry, I'm SDA but I was just wondering Gogirl and Prov17, what does your religion practice and teach (not to be mean, I'm just curios) :side:

Hi Prov17, I used to be SDA but now we are non-denominational christians. When we were SDA, at our old church they used to give out guide magazines so from then I joined the website.

And yes I think I've seen your brother post on here.

Hi Music2000,

First of all, I am not part of a religion. What does religion really mean? A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence. I believe in the word of God. I go by scriptural evidence to find truth. 2 or 3 passages from scripture must confirm each aspect of our belief. One of the major differences between our beliefs and that of the SDA's is what day the sabbath is, I do not believe that the sabbath is Saturday (I also do not believe in a Friday or Sunday sabbath). Friday, Saturday, or Sunday are nowhere to be seen in the word of God. Those days came about long after bible times and are manmade.

Well, we follow what the Bible says, we go to church on Sunday.

I've been raised in a Christian family since I was four (adopted) and never took notice of what we believe much. Now Gogirl had a different back round than I did, so you, Gogirl, might know more since you knew what you were doing, right?

Quirky, SDA's branched off from Millerite Adventists or something. Ellen White was twelve when she saw Miller. Read about the Great Disappointment on wikipedia. There's a story on it too called Night Of No Return in the stories section. You'll see what I thought of it by my post.

I shouldn't know this but I'm just interested in historical things.

No. I looked up your beliefs and they are contrary to our beliefs and slightly unbiblical.

Where, or what, do you see in our beliefs as unbiblical. I'd be more than happy to have a discussion with you.

Give me a single bible verse that claims the Sabbath is on the first day of the week. You will find there are nne and that every verse says the 7th day which is from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown not on sunday

Religion though not nessacry is good because it helps us grow in our faith. just saying. There is nothing wong with being non-denominational. Only the bible matters.
Correct about days of the week. BUT the bible says 7th day, 1st day, 3rd day, and so forth. t tells us a new day starts in the evening and that the Sabbath is from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown because that is the 7th day.It never says to go to church on staurday. But it does say to OBERVE the Sabbath.

What about our beliefs our unbiblical. (Do not mention Ellen White, yes some Adventists act is if she is God but officially all our church believes is that she is our end time prophet)

No. I looked up your beliefs and they are contrary to our beliefs and slightly unbiblical.

Prov17,

What are your actual beliefs?

How can worshiping on Sunday be Biblical?

Also I wonder If I should have been supporting you in the Ben Carson discusion.

Now I pretty much know why you have said some things. You said for instance that you believed in the Roman Empire, and Nero to be the beast and the antiChrist.

The problem is that, if this was the case, the world would have ended before you or I were born. Also, you don't seem to know the Writings of Ellen G. White. I myself, am also going to review my posts, but, i don't know, it's just that I feel, that Non-Adventists wouldn't nesecarily mingle with Adventist things, not that you are doing something bad, but you are a great help.

But it's just that I am quite surprised by you being a non-denominational Christian.

It also seems, that you and your family do have a denomination, but a mini one, and that you also go to Church. Which must belong to some denomination, but you can't be denominationless.

I also wonder, why some Non-Adventists stay here. Maybe it's because they are intersted.
So let me sing for the love
Let me love for the lost
Let me lose all I have

Let me trust you with my life
Let me live to give you praise
Lord, let me praise you
For the grace by which I'm saved
Lord, let me sing

@Prov, I don't completely understand the question.

@Fellow SDA's, DON'T BE SENSITIVE!!!!! Just because someone is of a different denomination or doesn't have the same beliefs doesn't mean we should kick 'em off of Guide. "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord."

Hi Guide Community,

I just want to clear up some misunderstandings.

The official Seventh-day Adventist World Church has a PDF of a summary of our 28 fundamental beliefs. Click here.

We believe all our teachings come straight from the bible: "Sola Scriptura".
I'll just give a quick rundown to clear misunderstandings:

~7 We believe death is a sleep. The righteous will come forth from the grave when Christ comes again.

~27 We do not believe the wicked will burn forever. Although the Bible does mention instances where they will burn "forever and ever" or something similar, they refer to eternal results. The Bible mentions over 50 times something that "lasts forever" but has already ended. Thus, they will be destroyed (something that makes God very, very, sad) and the universe will be free from sin.

Prov17 said,
We also don't believe in the second coming being followed by a millennial reign of the saints in heaven.

I don't mean to be condemning or anything, but allow me to point out several verses in the Bible.

I found a list of verses in the PDF, you can read them on Bible Gateway in NIV here.

The most important is the chapter of Revelation 20. If you don't have time to read the whole section in the link provided above, here is a quick overview.

An Angel (20:1) comes to lock up Satan in the Abyss [earth] for a thousand years [a millennium] with no one to tempt(20:3). The righteous will be in heaven for a thousand years with Christ (20:4-5). After the 1000 years, Satan will be released, gather up the wicked, and try to overtake the Holy City (20:7-9). Then the wicked will be destroyed (20:10, 13-15). (Notice it says "They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." See my note above at SDA belief 27.)

Hope this helps!
Smiling for Jesus
