Does your sabbath school give out the Young Disciple magazines and quarterlies??? My sabbath school does, the reason why my sabbath school uses Young Disciple instead of Guide is becuz the lessons are more like studying God's Word more deeper and they have Ellen G. White quotes. Plus, they have a children's Bible program set called Truth 4 Youth, my church used it for the kids' evangelistic series :) . I was just wondering if your church uses it instead of Guide :whistle: B) ;) .

My church uses young disciple. And I agree with you! It is more Biblical and more mature in format (if you actually finish all the lesson).

when I was in juniors, I used to get them, and I liked using the devotional part in the middle. But I like Guide better for good stories. So, if you combined Guide stories with YD devotionals, I think you'd have the perfect lesson right there.

Hey picklepuppy9! I've looked into Young Disciple for a project that I'm gonna do! It's a pretty cool ministry! There's definetly potential in that! It looks like an awesome thing!

How do you like it? Do you think that it is really good? Have you ever used or listened to a Truth 4 Youth campaign? If so, what did you think of it? What age group did it seem to be based more towards?

Thanks,
Hannah

@Godsadvicegiver
My church uses Guide, but we have also done the Truth 4 Youth series. Actually we are in the middle of it right now. Every week we go to a local apt complex and borrow a meeting room for about an hour. Me and a few of my church friends are pretty much leading it out(with some help from the adults). It seems to work better here for our church's kids to teach the other kids instead of the grown ups teaching. More kids seems to be attracted to us when they see us kids.
In my opinion the series is geared toward kids ages 4-12.
We (me and a few of my church friends) also used one of the lessons as a powerpoint sermon. I loved it! It gave us pretty much the option to choose whether we wanted to use it as a basis or take it further. For example, it might say..."God gives us laws to live by."(then we can insert examples of the laws if we want to) "Not because He wants us to be bored and have no fun,but because he wants us to be safe."
Something like that.

@islandqueen129, that sounds like a really good series! I might considering using it if my Bible study group goes well, we'll have to see how God leads!

Do you think that that series is better to do it weekly or several times a day?

Yes, we are studying the Daniel lessons. I also think a way to make the YD lessons more real is to have a different student present each day's material. :)

@Godsadvicegiver, that's great!

We are doing it weekly. I think that's a good pace,because its a lot to take in for like 4-12 year old's who have never heard anything like it. But for kids who have heard stuff like it you could move a little faster. I wouldn't do it anymore than 2 or 3 times a week.
That's just my opinion.

@islandqueen129, That's good. I may be interested in using it.

What are some of the topics? Like, are they simple or more complex, and what do they cover? Basicaly what the adult meetings cover?

Sorry for all the questions by t he way, but when I check into something, I try to fully check into before making a decision

Sorry I took so long to reply.

Some of the topics are creation,health laws,signs of Christ's second coming,2300 days,and the millennium,Babylon and the image, things like that.
I really like it because it takes complex subjects and breaks them down to an understandable portion. Because it's sometimes hard to explain certain things to kids(adults too). You don't start a bible study with someone by telling them to give up every ungodly thing they have or do, you explain what's wrong with those things and then let them make the choice to give it up on their own. So like, in little ways here and there, the series explains some things, like eating right in a way that suggests eating right instead of saying "you better eat right because the Bible says so" You get what I mean? I always give long,drawn out answers, idk why...
It covers the just about same things that an adult lessons cover. eg. it takes the story of Daniel(and his 3 friends) and how they didn't eat the kinds food,and uses in as a health laws lesson.

LOL don't worry. I'm sorry for all the long answers!!

p.s. I wish there was a way I could get your email address. Then I could send you script and manual samples so you could really see what it's like...

That sounds like a pretty cool series! Kids need something that they can understand. Yeah, I sometimes wish that we could get each others email addresses too, but I understand why were not allowed to...

So with the series, how many lessons are there?

Sweet! Thanks! That looks like a good series, I love it! I'm thinking that when I do my big evangelistic series I could get my friend to do that one for the kids! I'm going to need to finish writing the big series, plan it al out, and get things going, then I can take it to the church board and get a budget for it! This is getting so exciting, GOd is amazing!

Yeah, my church uses YD for our Juniors/Earliteens class. (It's combined because there aren't many people, but now we're splitting up and I'm not looking forward to it) I feel like it's a bit to mature for the younger kids in my class, in that they sometimes find it a little boring, but I like seeing how the Bible lines up exactly with history.

I hate young disciple. I did it for a while
but I stopped because:

.They do the same thing every year
.you try to do the puzzle and they always have errors
. It's good to spend alone time with God but theirs is a little
Bit to long.

So you see, I hate young disciple I read power points in Guide magazine and the I will read the story/stories and then I will read in my devotional Momentum
