Movies that are r-rated are frequently heard of so should we be watch them. Movies (out of the horror bracket) often contains cursing and sometimes sex scenes, so should e watch them. Bible refrences to your opinion would be appreciated.

I think its a personal decision. I mean I have alot of war movies and most of them are rated R. Really depends on why the movie is rated R

Wait a second Many Movies are R rated because the content is mature. In that case You need to see For Yourself if it abides with Philippians 4:8 as I have said before there is never a straight yes or No.

NO!!!! Absolutely not!!!!! Read Phillipians 4:8. I'm 12, and I dont even watch pg 13 movies that much. I only watch them if approved by my parents.

For myself I'd say no. Even though I've never seen an r rated movie, i know that in my personally walk, r rated movies won't assists me in "press[ing] toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." So, ya know, personal choice.

People are bringing out the 1 Corinthians 10:31 and the Philippians 4:8 but the problem is that no one can ever perfectly master these verses. I don't always think about what is pure or right. I am a sinful person. I have thought about many things and they're not all pure or right. And whatever I do, I don't always do it to the glory of God. Me playing Minecraft is not doing glory to God, but neither is practicing basketball or soccer. You can't always follow these perfectly. I have watched rated-R movies such as Terminator (skipping over the sexual part) and Gladiator. It really depends on the person. People say "BLOOD IS BAD! BLOOD IS TERRIBLE!" You know what else is filled with blood? If the whole Bible was turned into a movie. It would be like the worst movie. It would probably be either Rated R or Rated NC-17 (Even worse than R). From Tamar being raped to David beheading kings over and over again, the Bible is GRUESOME. It's disgusting. I was reading Genesis, did you know that Lot, to save himself in Sodom and Gomorahh, just threw his daughters into a crowd to be raped. THE BIBLE IS TERRIBLE, yet great. Just because a movie has blood doesn't mean it can't teach you anything. The only bad thing is that pornography can be found in rated R movies. If there is I just skip it but I have only watched 2 movies with sex scenes but I just skip'm. It really depends on what your parents and you think you can watch.
I am not Adventist. I mostly stay here because it is the only forum on the internet where I know other people and people know me. It’s kind of like a community and it feels better that way and although I could rather talk to people with the same humor as I have, I have a connection with you ppl

This is definitely a personal choice. I don't believe watching an R-rated movie occasionally will change your inner convictions on anything, unless you're very influenceable. It's important to be able to handle things objectively, but if we're choosing to watch horror movies and movies filled with blood/gore/cursing/sexual themes, on a regular basis, and it's influencing our lives, I would say that is not what God wants for us at all. Those types of things taint the mind, and in the long run, separate us from Jesus.

A good rule of thumb I go by is this: can I imagine Jesus partaking in it? If not, I try to stay away from it.

Depends on why it's rated R. :) You can't really categorize movies like "OH ALL OF THESE ARE BAD" and "OH ALL THESE ARE GOOD", I mean you need to know what the movie is about before you decide whether it's healthy to watch or not. Sometimes violence and even profanity don't automatically rule a movie out (unless like, you're a certain age) I don't think I've ever seen an R-rated movie, but I've seen PG-13 movies.

But reading something and seeing with your eyes is totally different. I've read scary books and thought "wow, if this was a movie I'd never be able to watch it!" But I'm fine reading it.

I personally believe we shouldn't bcuz of the content. If the movie has blood in it and killings, fine , but if it has sexual scenes and cursing then I don't believe u should indulge in the movie. btw, yes we are sinners but that doesn't mean we have to sin on purpose. movies with sex scenes and parts where u can see people's parts that should not be seen is basically pornography. If u don't curse and have sex then why watch movies or videos with it in it. be sensible, we re obviously not talking about a few killing scenes.i do not believe we should watch r rated movies with sex scenes and cursing. we all know its wrong, stop trying to justify what God says is bad.

...you know something awkward? I was reading my Bible when I was around 5 years old and I ran across the story of Amnon and Tamar, and I had no idea what raping was back then (XD) but it isn't your front-line Sabbath School lesson story, so I had never heard it before and was very fascinated by it, so one morning I came to my parents' room and read the story of Amnon and Tamar to them, and stumbling over the word "raped", I asked, "What does 'rape' mean?" XD
Needless to say, my parents really didn't know what to say. I actually don't remember what they said, but they didn't tell me, I learned when I was older lol. But that story always pops in my mind when people bring up awkward stories in the Bible, lol.
