As always this is a debate topic so expect to be debated against.

*WARNING* I USE STRONG LANGUAGE IN THIS ESSAY *WARNING*

P.S. I say curse words in this essay but I don't use them really I just mention them by not sugar coating the word because it's basically the same word. (Seriously sugarcoating the word is stupid and I hate how it's deemed more respectful to sugarcoat the word like "the F word." We all know what you mean just say it. It's not that big of a deal you're just referencing to the word.) So basically I reference to the words and use phrases that are commonly used. So keep that in mind just in case your grandma is overlooking your shoulder.

I'm sorry, but that sort of language isn't allowed on the website.

And personally, I don't care who is looking over my shoulder. If my standards are only standards when someone else is watching, then I've got major issues.

This website is targeted towards children 10-14 years old. Though the people who regularly go on here might be older, it's best that we keep the target audience in mind.

I don't necessarily use it I just reference to it. Obviously you took my joke personally. I guess I shouldn't have said that. I still stand behind that it was a joke because I was just making fun of the fact that people don't even like seeing the word or hearing of the word at any point even though it is just a reference to it. But yest I may have offended you guys and I apologize for that. But seriously how could I make that better?

I said warning. I mean I understand that the Web site is targeted towards 10-14 year olds but still, if they don't want to see it they don't have to click it. And I was just referencing to the words.

Unfortunately, people are morbidly curious. Even if it is firmly stated that there will be some mature content, it is very difficult for people to resist clicking.

I understand that you were just referencing the words, but it is explicitly stated in the 'Rules' tab that cursing or swearing is not allowed.

Bush Pussom, I'm genuinely curious. How am I supposed to post a essay where it includes phrases that have curse words in it. Should I bleep them out by using * such as, "***" or should I just no upload it at all because even referencing to a word is bad?

If you wouldn’t say it in real life in front of an 8 or 10 year old, don’t say it here. And if you would say F in front of little kids, you need to shape up

Yes, cut them out of it. If you were making a talk on the evils of alcohol, then you wouldn't go and buy a bottle and use the real Maccoy as an example.

In regards to swearing in general, you can tell pretty quickly what type of person someone is by their language. If I hear someone swearing, then I tend to steer clear of them, especially if it's on the street. Our language is just as much as witness as the clothes we wear, our posture even, and the things we do.
"You may be the only sermon that someone may ever hear."
As children of the King of Kings, we are above using street talk. We're not here to blend in, we're here to stand out as witnesses for the goodness and love of God. Yes, we should try and make people feel comfortable, but that doesn't happen by wallowing in the mud with the pig. Instead, you show the pig the way to the hose and show it how to get clean. If you simply jump in to keep the pig feeling like it's got company, you're helping to stifle its conscience, which is the way the Holy Spirit communicates with you.

Any language that is rude or dirty, is not fitting on a child of the King of Kings, it is beneath us.

Furthermore, real life example, some of my Christian friends swear. This makes them look like they aren't Christians at all, because their speech is not pure.

One thing: a porn addict doesn't have to click on the images. So should people post those kinds of pics on the internet?

Another thing: take swear words and replace them with the name of the person you love most. Are they still okay?

Yet another thing: this is a Christian website. We are all Christian. We are (mostly) all mature teens who love Jesus and know how to carry on a discussion without acting like politicians. I suggest we do exactly that.

Remember: Jesus loves everyone, even when thy don't agree with Him. The person you're debating with is God's child! :)

Just the thought when it comes to Christians and swearing:

Matthew 26:74
Then began [Peter] to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

You guys already know this story about Peter's denial of Christ. He was becoming more and more exasperated by the questioning of others in regards to his affiliation with Jesus. Finally, in a desperate attempt to convince them that he wasn't a follower of Christ, he began "to curse and to swear, saying, 'I know not the man.'"

Even though Peter's swear words probably weren't the same as today, the principle still applies. As followers of Christ, disciples if you will, our words and action should have a distinct difference from that of the world. I can tell you right now that Jesus never cursed or swore. He was perfect in thought, deed, and action, and he calls to live that same life of purity through Him. When you think about the meanings of curse words today, would "pure" be the first wors that comes to mind in describing them?

I finish with this: If the world wants to use vile and perverted words to express themselves, then they can go ahead. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

After some stuff went down I think I'm letting this essay go away. I already talked about it with my Sabbath School teacher and she's opened her mind about it. I don't think you guys will anyway. I just wanted to share it but I don't think it's worth my time.

A bit off topic, but I saw this funny story and thought of this topic.
So when this girl was very young, her parents (most likely Christian), whenever they swore in front of her, they would say “Escuse our French” or “We’re just speaking French, honey.” Then when the girl went to school, the teacher asked if anyone knew French, and the girl proudly raised her hand.

Turned out she didn’t know French.
