One day you are spending time with one of your non-Christian friends when the conversation comes around to the Bible. Your friend claims that the Bible is untrustworthy because it is “scientifically inaccurate.”

Your friend points out some verses such as Joshua 10:13, which says that the sun stood still, and Isaiah 13:10, which seems to imply that the moon gives off its own light. How would you respond?

I would say that Supernatural events happen. God can hold the sun and control the moon because He made them.
Proverbs 17:15, "He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to Yahweh."

I strongly believe that the writer(s) of the book of Joshua was or were using the language the people at the time could understand. For example, we often say that the sun arises and sets everyday but does the sun really moves to set. However, that is the conventional expression that everyone understands. So I will tell my friend that is the expression that could go well with people at the time.Bible writers used expressions their listeners or readers could be well familiar with. They never want to be technical in order not to confuse their readers.

Well, when I first read that first in Isaiah, I saw that the moon didn't give it's light after the Sun was darkened. That seems to confirm science, not contradict it.

Who's to say God can't do supernatural works?
