Your friends (like Jordan’s) like to use some pretty bad language. You try not to because you don’t think it is right for a Christian, although sometimes you slip up a bit.
One day they’re all slinging insults and rude comments at one another, curse words flying left and right. One friend notices you’re keeping quiet. “Hey, hold it everyone,” he says. “We got the preacher here now. You guys should watch your language!”

Do you say, “No, that’s cool; I don’t care if you guys swear around me”?

Do you throw in a curse word of your own to show how cool you are?

Or do you say, “Thanks, guys, I appreciate it if you watch your mouth when I’m around”?

Or do you have another response?

And what would your friends’ reply to any of these answers be?

I think I'd say “Thanks, guys, I appreciate it if you watch your mouth when I’m around” so that I may preserve my ears and my brain. Curse words turn it to mush. :P

But seriously, I do not like it when people curse around me or to me, it's pretty much saying "I want to hurt your feelings" and that's just not cool.

My sabbath school teacher made a very good point. There are so many swear words that we think a horrible right? But when God's name is taken in vain, it doesn't seem as bad as other swear words right? But using God's name, the name of the Creator of everything, is much worse than any swear word! So we need to be very careful how we speak.
... Even if it gets me convicted
I’ll still be on my knees with my hands lifted ...
... If saying I believe is out of line
If I’m judged cause I’m gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me
Then I want to be Guilty ...

I would say YES PLEASE STOP SWEARING, YOU ARE SCARRING ME FOR LIFE AND MAKING MY EARS BLEED! and then I might just leave the room after that, cause a lot of them will probably keep on swearing. :pinch: For some reason I will never forget the day I first heard somebody use GOD's name in vain, not like the regular old "Oh my gosh" or even with the d instead of sh, but this random guy at a recreational center by my house literally yelled Jesus's name (BOTH names) :( and I kind of wanted to burst into tears but instead I was just all like, "Goodness! Watch your language!" He couldn't hear me though, he was like 100+ feet away playing soccer with some other guys :side:

You keep me steady when the sky is falling
And I'll keep steady after You,
I'll carry on when my strength is failing
Take heart cause You're with me
So let the stars drop,
Whatever comes I'll be ready
You keep me steady
