Why did David take 5 stones if he was only going to fight Goliath?

So that if he misssed he could try again? Or maybe to defend himself from others?
You don't have to be Goliath to succeed, Little Davids can succeed, too :)

Some people believe that David took five smooth stones and not just one because he had some doubt. However, there is no indication in the Bible story of David and Goliath that by selecting five stones instead of one that David was in any way doubting God. Rather, David was simply being prepared. What if the Philistines attacked him after he killed Goliath? How would he have defended himself? (Read 1 Samuel 17:51). David was simply being prepared when he took the four additional stones and he had never contemplated doubting God. Also, God had not promised or mentioned that 1 stone would have sufficed, so he couldn’t have known that one stone would be enough to kill the giant. :)

That is basically what I said however I did not define that some of the Philistines were Goliath brothers I just mentioned it were (the stones) picked up to be prepared for the other Philistines :P

Goliath having 4 brothers is not blatantly showed in Samuel 21:18-22 but indirectly it is indicated there…
