It depends on the person and how mature they are. I think dating shouldn't be just for fun, to pass time. I think it should be part of finding a future spouse.

It depends on how serious it is and how mature you are. it also depends on what your parents think.

i Would agree with Inspired thinker but also be quick to add that it has more to do with maturity than anything else, quite frankly i have a few 20 something friends who act like they are 15 and i also have some 15-16 year old friends who are in terms of maturity going on 25

I would say when your around 15 or so, it doesn't mean its serious or anything but its a good start so you know how to deal with girls/guys in the future. Really I don't think its anyone's business about what age you start dating.

So let me sing for the love
Let me love for the lost
Let me lose all I have
For what I found on the cross
Let me trust you with my life
Let me live to give you praise
Lord, let me praise you
For the grace by which I'm saved
Lord, let me sing

If you can't drive or get a car, if you can't pay for a house, if you can't get married, then you have no reason whatsoever to be dating. Dating is for finding "the One" and for me, dating means you have intentions on marrying them. If you're only 14 or 15, you've got no reason to do so. You're still too young.

it made perfect sense. what's the use in dating someone if you're still having your parents drive you to Chuck E. Cheese's? makes much more sense to start when you have a car so you can personally pick up your partner.

You can learn how to deal with the opposite gender by being friends. You don't have to date to know how to act around them. And I agree, it is other people's business, not ours, if they decide to date young or old. But island girl asked us for our opinions, so we gave them.

Look at Skite's post and my post quoting him. Does is still make perfect sense?

Chuck E Cheese? Really? If your parents have to drive you to your date, that's embarrassing. If you're going to Chuck E Cheese...that's....that's just wrong...in so many ways

I think dating is unnecessary.

Lol so true about Chuck E Cheese! But why do you think dating is unnecessary? It's a step of getting to know someone who could be your future spouse. I wouldn't wanna skip it...

Because can't you get to know your future even in a friend relationship? Why does the label "girlfriend" or "boyfriend" have to be stuck on them in order to get to know them as a future spouse? That's my personal opinion.

I think dating is ok but not having a boyfriend/girlfriend until you're older like eighteen. For instance, my adult/married/and-gonna-be-father-soon cousin told me to date lots of boys but never in the same order. So, if I just went indoor swimming with Ethan on Thursday, I would need to go to the church game night with Nick on Sabbath evening before I could go hiking with Ethan on Monday. Does that make sense?

That does not mean I'm ready to date even if I am old enough to drive. For one thing, I won't go out with non-SDA's but I'm the only SDA at my homeschool group. And the boys at church are either too old or too young for me and all are definitely not my type. So no dating for me yet. :P

By the way, all names are fictional. :)
Sometimes we worry,
Sometimes we fret.
Sometimes we feel like
We can't move a step.

But God is still with us.
Keep Him in mind.
Trust in Him alway.
He is ever so kind.

I chose 13 or 14 because the answer is really a level of maturity and self control. I know 18 year olds who don't know how to handle themselves on a date but their are 14 year olds at my middle School in committed relationships. (like my friend Travis)

know a friend who had a long time friend he liked but only did casual flirting (nothing serious) and never even showed his feelings. Then he was steaming mad when another guy asked her out. My friends told him if he had done it then maybe he could have had a relationship with her. Basically asking someone out is a way to show your interested in someone. When people are dating it means they like each other enough to be in a relationship. This is the culture at my school. If you go to a school where dating isn't a norm (or are homeschooled) then being friends with your crush may be enough at that point in time. It really all depends on your majority and environment
