When people say OMG they refer to something surprising, that is usually human. The thing is what does God have to do with wahtever is going on. I mean would you like it if i said, OMB or O my BRIBREE.
So let me sing for the love
Let me love for the lost
Let me lose all I have
For what I found on the cross
Let me trust you with my life
Let me live to give you praise
Lord, let me praise you
For the grace by which I'm saved
Lord, let me sing

Gosh is a euphemism for God. That means it's a substitute for God. It's not as bad as using God's name in vain, but it still has the same meaning.

What???? Look the point is, that this omG thing might be getting out of hand, for kids and adolescents today, especially those that are Adventist are examples, and we must be one of the purest people, not hat we are perfect, and also that we are world famous for that, but its like a kind of goal for us. I thought our church denomination was one of the purest, not the most perfect, religions, becuase, we dont eat unclean meat, worship on Sabbath, and are starting a vegetarian style, and through these aspects, bad words, and especially vain words, and a few other aspects, i thought were also out of the question for us. But now it seems that we are also doing like the world. Is that our goal? Is that what we are going to become?

I don't think saying "oh my" and adding something after it is a replacement for the G because, the 3rd commandment sayss not to take God's name in vain and if you don't say God after it then really, you're not using God's name. (i just say oh my)

I looked up the definition for "gosh" and this is what I found...
Full Definition of GOSH

—used as a mild oath or to express surprise

Origin of GOSH: euphemism for God

I think it's okay, as long as you don't say it too much! But, it might be best to stick with Oh my goodness, or the other words that were suggested! :) B)

Peace Out,

The only thing is with saying those words is that "Oh my word", and "Oh my goodness" is that One is only good, and that is God. And in John chapter 1 Jesus is called the word. :) Do you see what I mean?

To know Him is life.
To see him is Faith.
To feel Him is mercy.

Allison C, oh my word can also mean my word, not God's word (that would be the Bible). Same with goodness. It's my goodness.

It says "Do not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." It doesn't say "Do not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain with a few exceptions." I believe you shouldn't use God's name in vain at all. Just saying it a little will get you in the habit of using God's name in vain, and, how much is too much? Once you start, you will add just one more to the maximum, and pretty soon, you'll be using God's name in vain all the time.

In my sisters Sabbath school class her teacher said that they shouldn't say it because it is bad. Its in the bible when thingy(whoever wrote psalms) was exalting God and praising him other than that I don't know

My Sabbath school had a lesson about this. Our teacher was saying that "gosh" is just as bad as saying "God" He put up a slide that said omg, and he's like "I know you all know what this is, and many of you have used it" So I leaned over to my friend and said "it means oh my goldfish!" So now whenever we say that, we burst out laughing. :woohoo:

My Sabbath school teacher said that satan is so smart and tricky, that he made God's name into a word that is always just thrown around. And when you think about it, it's much worse to take God's name, the name of the creator of everything we can see, the name of love and life, in vain than it is to use the "really bad" swear words.
... Even if it gets me convicted
I’ll still be on my knees with my hands lifted ...

If I’m judged cause I’m gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me
Then I want to be Guilty ...

Of course it's not a bad word.

But it's breaking the 2nd commandment of God.

And also, why do you say OMG?

There are some girls, that, when their pencil falls, "OMG my pencil!" Should we really go to such lengths?

They said that Skite, because God is good. Remember the song, "God is so good,God is so good, God is so good, He's so good to me..."
