I have one of those things; although, I haven't used it much lately. I haven't ever been on a team or anything though. Recently I was looking online, and you can use the NXT as a microcontroller, connecting to it via I2C to other chips (e.g. temperature sensors or whatever you want to measure or control). I once again have an interest in these little devices. =)
