About Guide

Guide Dog, Mascot

How long have you worked for Guide? I started out in 1985 at the first international Pathfinder camporee in Colorado.

What goes on in a normal day of work for you? I spend a lot of time hanging out at the Guide Base Camp with Randy Fishell. He says he's a "team player," but frankly, he's never asked my opinion about anything.

Describe yourself: I like to think of myself as tall, dark, and handsome. The only time I don't think of myself this way is when I look in the mirror.

What was the first car you owned? I'm not allowed to get a driver's license, though the Guide editor says I am very skilled at driving (him crazy).

What's it really like working for Guide? Well, I don't really think of my job as work. I mean, what's tough about going to camp meetings and camporees and conventions and getting hugged by Guide readers?

What is your favorite part of your job? Going to camp meetings and camporees and conventions and getting hugged by Guide readers.

What's your favorite junk food item? Guide Dog Bone Cookies! I try to take some along wherever I go just to give 'em away!

Spring, summer, fall, or winter? Anything but summer. I get sooo hot in summer!

What was your favorite subject in obedience school? Learning to shake hands.

What is an annoying habit you can't break? Letting my tongue hang out of my mouth.

What is a phobia that you can't shake? I'm terrified of being shut up in a big box in a closet at the Guide Base Camp.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? You mean, which did I eat first?

What shampoo do you use? Please don't remind me! I don't like getting shampooed. In fact, I flea the premises.

If you were president for a day, what would you change? I would support a constitutional amendment requiring a fire hydrant every 100 feet.

What is your favorite Bible verse? "Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table" (Matthew 15:27, NIV)*

What is your favorite Guide story? Any story that has a dog as the hero!
